Linda Podewils has founded a Child Care Education Program to provide children and adults with a safe learning environment. In doing this the program allows children and adults the freedom to explore a variety of learning environments while working to their fullest potentials. All staff, parents and students are invited to join the educational experience and to form a working partnership to attain this end.
All the students will use this freedom to achieve their developmental level, which may vary from their chronological level. No student will be held back, but rather encouraged to excel in his or her academic endeavors. The curriculum has been selected to allow the student this freedom and faculty will assist in the exploration of development without setting limits. Our faculty will guide the setting of goals and mapping routes to attain the goals. The only limits will be those needed to ensure that the student meets or exceeds the goals in their academic plan. We will encourage the students and faculty to explore varied methods of both teaching and learning. All staff will be encouraged to continue their own educational growth so that the students may benefit from the experience. This program will allow for a team effort to create the child's learning environment. The school, the staff, the students, and families will be judged not by how one does but by how we work as a team to help students succeed. We will recognize that each person is unique. We will recognize that each student has his or her own style of learning and dealing with change. We will acknowledge each student individuality.
As facilitators, directors, teachers, parents, and students, we will:
Foster decision making and problem solving skills.
Help the student think about what they have done and what they can do.
Enhance positive self esteem and self concept.
Support and encourage creativeness.
Empower the student to be flexible and responsive to change.
Sets goals for the program and student.
Plan and arrange learning opportunities that support independence, ensure success and the ability to make choices based on their interest and ability.
Conduct on-going observations, assessments of child and evaluation of program.
Make changes and program improvements.
As John Naisbitt Says:
"In a world that is constantly changing, there is no one subject or set of subjects that will serve you for the foreseeable future, let alone for the rest of your life. The most important skill to acquire now is learning how to learn."
